ICN2 Nanoseminar in Chemistry & Materials: Lead Halide Perovskites
Speaker: Prof. Udo Bach, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Monash University, Australia

Lead halide perovskites (LHPs) have recently emerged as a new class of semiconductor materials with exceptional properties. In this talk I will summarise some of our work on single-crystalline LHP materials, their synthesis and application in x-ray detectors, Faraday rotators and electro-optical modulators. Single-crystalline LHPs can also be used to study photoinduced phase segregation in mixed-halide LHPs. Our work reveals that light, the very cause of phase segregation, can also be used as a tool to reverse it. In the second part of my talk I will focus more on photovoltaic applications of solution-processed LHP thin-films in devices with back-contact architecture and conclude my presentation with an outlook on our activity in the area of energy materials discovery via high-throughput combinatorial approaches.
